Some of the Peranakan cuisine . Most of Peranakan cuisine utilised coconut milk.
Peranakans are Chinese who had married local and thus created a new culture which we known today as Baba and Nyonya.
Baba refers to the gentleman of Peranakan ( or commonlyly known as Straits Chinese) while the
ladies are known as Nyonya.
The language of Peranakan are basically a blend of Chinese and Malay language. In Melaka the combination percentage of language is 80% Malay and 20 % Chinese Hokkien while the Penang the percentage is 80% Chinese Hokkien and 20% Malay.
Arts of Peranakan include the famous beaded shoes known as Kasut Manik
They also love to sent things in a tiffin type of basket known as Bakul Siar in Melaka while in Penang it is called Siar Nar.
" Siar " is actually a Malay word for strolling or walking around while "Bakul" is a Malay word for basket. "Nar " is a Hokkien word for basket.
Peranakan Cuisine :- Gado-Gado, Pulut Tai Tai , Kueh Talam, Kari Mee, Laksa, Bubur Cha-Cha, Kueh Bangkit, Nasi Kunyit, Tapai and Pengat Pisang. and etc.
The coustume they wear is very unique such as Baju Panjang, accessories such as kerongsang.
They are also very good in musical such as "Dondang Sayang"
